China's autonomous driving company secures license in France
(ECNS) -- China's autonomous driving technology company, WeRide, has obtained public road testing and operation license in partnership with French autonomous mobility network operator beti, the company announced on Thursday.
The license allows the company's autonomous vehicles to operate at a speed of 40 kilometer per hour, making it the highest-speed unmanned road testing permit in France.
The company in collaboration with beti, Renault Group, and French insurance company Macif, launched Europe's first commercial autonomous minibus service on public roads in Valence, Drome, France on Feb. 27.
WeRide has carried out autonomous driving research, testing, and operations in 30 cities across 10 countries and has deployed a fleet of autonomous vehicles, including robotaxis, robobuses, and robosweepers, in various counties such as France, Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, the UAE, and Japan.
