Guangdong unveils new policies to boost cultural industry with global focus

Guangdong is unveiling a major policy package to strengthen the competitiveness and appeal of its cultural industry globally, following the opening of The 21st China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) today (May 22). The announcement was made at a press conference where officials detailed measures to empower the sector's growth.

Themed "high-quality growth of the cultural industry," the policy suite proposes solutions that include funding, talent cultivation, regulatory improvement, and infrastructure optimization, with a highlighted effort to facilitate Guangdong's cultural industry going abroad and to attract foreign counterparts in return.

Aiming to enhance innovation, market expansion, and industrial upgrading of the cultural sector, the targeted initiatives provide customized support for six core areas: film and TV, live performances, animation, online games, esports, and digital streaming.

This move, underscoring Guangdong's commitment to fostering a competent and innovative cultural ecosystem both domestically and internationally, is expected to further solidify Guangdong's position as a leading hub for cultural and creative industries in China.

Here are the policy incentives that international creatives would find most relevant. Rejoice, culture makers; Guangdong pays to play.
