Chinese medical worker Zhang Liyan receives 2025 Princess Srinagarindra Award

(ECNS) -- Chinese medical worker Zhang Liyan received the 2025 Princess Srinagarindra Award on Wednesday at the Grand Palace in Bangkok for her outstanding contributions to nursing and midwifery.

Zhang said that the honor was not only a recognition of her personal achievements but an encouragement to all who remain dedicated to nursing and the humanitarian mission.
A former deputy director at the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Hospital, Zhang is a recipient of the 43rd Florence Nightingale Medal, and the first female chief medical officer of the China International Search and Rescue.
She currently serves as chair of the China Nightingale Volunteer Nursing Service Corps.
Established in 2000 by the Thai royal family to commemorate the centenary of Princess Srinagarindra's birth, the award is presented annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the fields of nursing or medicine.
