Longhua Temple Vegetarian Exhibition kicks off in Washington

The Longhua Temple Vegetarian Exhibition, hosted by the Chinese American Museum, opened in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

More than 200 guests from all walks of life in the United States attended the opening ceremony.

Master Zhao Cheng, vice president of the Shanghai Buddhist Association and abbot of Shanghai Longhua Temple, delivered a speech.

Minister Jing Quan from the Embassy of China in the U.S. and Malaysian and Italian ambassadors to the U.S. also attended the event.

Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington, D.C., sent a letter to express her greetings to the Chinese American Museum and the participants. She said the event promoted cultural exchanges among the community.

The Longhua Temple, boasting a history of 1,782 years, is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in Shanghai. In 2019, the "Longhua Zen Food Making Technique" was included in the sixth batch of Shanghai's Intangible Cultural Heritage representative items.
